Cherry Bomb Cocktails

with fresh lime juice

Cocktail hour is happy hour. It is that special pre-dinner time where guests can get their drink on, relax, and socialize all while drinking tasty adult beverages.   It is my favorite hour of the day and definitely a time where I can play around in the kitchen concocting an assortment of fruity and yummy drinks to serve myself or friends.

This drink was actually a remake of a similar one I had on a date back in the day when my boyfriend and I first started dating. It is a great Spring and Summer drink first because you don’t taste the booze (dangerous) and second it is quite refreshing on a hot day. The tart lime juice and sweet cherry flavors all end on a nice fizzy notes that dance around on your tongue from the Sprite or Sierra Mist. This is a total chick drink, but men don’t be shy. I made these a while back and my boyfriend had about 3 before he realized he was a little toasty from such a shee-shee drink. So the next time you are thinking of something sweet and sour with a little bit of pop try these Cherry Bombs. You will not be disappointed.

Ingredients:

  • 3 shots Bacardi Torched Cherry Rum (you can use 2 shots, but I like my drinks a little boozy)
  • Juice of 1 Lime
  • Splash or 1 Tbsp. of Cherry Grenadine
  • Sprite or Sierra Mist
  • Lime Wedge to garnish
  • Crushed Ice

Directions:

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with about 1/2 c. of ice. Add the rum and 1/2 the fresh squeezed lime juice. Cover with the lid and shake for about 1-2 minutes (you want this super cold).
  2. Pour into a tumbler or small cocktail glass that is already halfway full of ice. After pouring the cocktail shaker contents into your glass, fill the glass up the rest of the way with sprite or sierra mist and the remaining lime juice. Finish with a splash of the cherry grenadine and lime wedge. Serve!
