Rosemary Infused Vodka Tonics

with fresh lime juice

Nothing is tastier than a vodka tonic. That sweet punch of tart lime juice mixed with the smooth glide of alcohol is a favorite of mine all year round. It is my go to drink and quenches the thirst like no other.

It is quite basic when formulating the perfect vodka drink. Vodka 101: It all comes down to quality not quantity when choosing a good vodka brand. It should taste soft, a little sweet, creamy, and smooth. If it burns your palette after a sip, then I suggest you dumping it and moving on to something less astringent and harsh. Vodka is popular amongst drinkers because not only is it a clear alcohol, but it can take on the taste of most ingredients when it’s mixed well. Everything should meld together and taste as one with that first sip allowing little notes of surprises to arise after. Nothing is worse than taking a sip of a drink and realizing that: A). it is crappy vodka, and B). it has a flat taste without even a hint of anything else. Total disappointment.

What I love about this rosemary infused drink is that is a nice twist on the classic. Rosemary to begin with has a pungent and woody taste to it that is nicely offset from the bitter acidity of the lime. It sounds a little weird, but once you take a sip you will realize how awesome it actually is and keep on sipping. I know I do!

Ingredients:

  • 2 shots Grey Goose Vodka
  • Juice of 1 Lime + 2 wedges
  • Fresh Rosemary sprigs
  • Tonic Water
  • Crushed Ice

Directions:

  1. In a cocktail shaker muddle together 1/2 the fresh squeezed lime juice, a lime wedge and some sprigs of fresh rosemary. Add in some ice and vodka, then cover and shake for about 1-2 minutes (you want this super cold).
  2. Pour into a tumbler or small cocktail glass (minus the muddled lime wedge and rosemary sprigs) that is already full of ice. Fill the rest of the way with tonic and the remaining lime juice. Finish with a sprig of rosemary to garnish and a lime wedge. Serve!
